Paris; the greenest city in the world ?

From google street view data, in USA the researches calculated the rate of greenery in several major coty around the world, and Paris is the big looser.

How they calculated that ?

To quantify the degree of “greenery” of cities, the authors of this study analyzed through Google Street View images the proportion of green a walker saw from the street. Since these snapshots reprocessed by an algorithm, the researchers have managed to establish a “Green view index” that classifies large cities according to the average proportion of greenery appearing in the pedestrian field of vision.

The results of this survey

According to this ranking, the index of greenery in Paris therefore stands at 8.8%. The world champion of green spaces? Singapore, where its inhabitants have almost a third of their panorama occupied by green with a green index of 29.3%. Sydney and Vancouver (25.9%), Johannesburg (23.6%), Frankfurt (21.5%), Geneva (21.4%) and Amsterdam (20.6%) follow. Among the lowest rates are New York (13.5%), Sao Paulo (11.7%) and Kobe (9.4%).

Even if Paris trie to be leader on the road of the green economy, we hade see that with the COP21 in 2015 which is a decisive summit on climate and energy, with one of the largesr park which is Boulogne park.
We see that in reality Paris still has a lot of work and to achieve the goals of his ambition.
